Wolcen Lords Mayhem: Beginner’s guide

WOlcen Lords of Mayhem finally has arrived. The game will attract Action RPG lovers, backers, new players and those who have waited patiently for the game which has taken 5 years to make. This is the final version of this article. Wolcen Beginner’s Guide, we’re going to go through some game mechanics and general tips for those who are just starting out. Wolcen Beginner’s Guide to Wolcen Lords of Mayhem

First things first, when you start your game, you should check out the settings, or to be more specific the gameplay settings in Wolcen, There are sure to be a couple of things that you might be interested in turning on, if you haven’t already done so.

• Show damage – This one is pretty straight forward. Turn this on so you can see how much damage you’re actually dealing. Helpful when for when you’re min maxing, and its just gratifying to see numbers on the screen.
• Auto Attack – Honestly, in my opinion, everyone should turn this on. Turning this on will let you “auto attack” enemies. This is done by hovering your mouse in the direction of enemies while holding down your left click. Sometimes I tried to click on an enemy to strike, but instead I ended walking. This will solve the problem.
• Display Health and Resource Values – Turn this on to show numerical values on your health and resource bars. This is totally up to the player, like most of the items here, but turning this on will let you see in a more clear manner if you’re are bleeding or poisoned. I died once because I didn’t realized how much rend and toxic damage I had, and turning this on prevented this from happening again. It is useful for people who wish to know how many resources are left. It is useful for skill rotations, min maxing, and practice.
• Display Item Level – I didn’t know about this until chapter 2, but turning this on will show you the item level on all equipment. This gives you an easier way to determine which item has been updated and which is older. It also helps in making decision about whether to dispose of or sell.

Wolcen Lords of Mayhem doesn’t have any Classes to speak of. If you’ve seen our preview then you already know this. I will tell you all about their Classless Development System. Wolcenlords of Mayhem allows you to freely use all types of weaponNo matter which weapon your character creator chose, you can use it however you wish. Skills are tied to the weapon type you are using, so if you’re using a melee weapon then you can only use Melee Skills, and if you’re using a ranged weapon then you can only use Ranged Skills, etc.

If you could use two different one-handed weapons (melee or ranged) to create a hybrid, you might be able to build your own character. Consider if you can dual-wield both a catalyst and a mace. You could use your Melee Skills. Catalyst SkillsLet’s say you use an. Or let’s say you use a pistolAnd an axeYou can use this to both ranged and melee skills. You have the option to build either a ranged or melee build. Or, why not build both? It’s fun, I promise!

Your first aspect

You will be able to taste the beginning of the game. It is more of a hint of what lies ahead AspectThis is how the gameplay will look. You will be able to transform freely into any Aspect you choose by Chapter 1. (provided you have sufficient Primordial Essence, see our preview for more details). It is only because I want to reiterate that you can choose which Aspect you’d like to have at this pointIt is. So I clicked unlock because I had just seen it. Don’t be me and click without choosing.

All you need to know about learning

Skills are available in the form of Enneract to Wolcen Lords Of Mayhem. You can get Enneract by looting fallen enemies inside a treasure chest or buying it from an NPC StormfallYou can use it. When you get a hold of an Enneract, don’t think twice, don’t sell it, just use it. It doesn’t matter if you’re planning to use the skill or not, just use it.

You can certainly take it with you Demetra, the skill NPC in Stormfall, and sell it for some Primordial Affinity if you don’t need it. You don’t have to, as the Enneract will be consumed if the skill is already in your possession. This will give you the same Primordial Affinity amount that you received if it was sold to Demetra. You can pick up an Enneract and use the right-click function to gain it. You can save inventory space to buy weapons and other high-quality items.

It’s easy to make money (or not)

You can easily farm money or gold by simply destroying any broken objects in your environment. Barrels, boxes, coffins, monster eggs, monster sacs, vases, etc. If it can break then chances are you’ll find gold in it. If you’re wondering if its even worth it, the answer is very much a yes. Let me explain.

You will usually find around 27-30 pieces of gold in these barrels. This is the average amount that you can get for selling one random piece. ArmorYou can sometimes get even more. So by breaking boxes, etc, you’ve basically gained some gold without going back to Stormfall to sell anything, and in a large map you’ll find a lots and lots of breakable items. You won’t have to return to Stormfall for loot every time. Instead, you can save your time and earn more by going through boxes to loot gold or looting higher quality loot (magic loot in the beginning). Breaking stuff in general is just fun to begin with (in video games…), and also gives you Rage or Willpower when you attack so its win-win.

You should also be looking out for the golden ladybug icon in the mini-map. These little buggers or “Wealth Omens” will drop a ton of gold coins while you’re dealing damage to them, and will drop a lot more once dead and with some bonus equipment. Just make sure to stick to them because they will try to get away from you and when they’re far enough, they will disappear along with your gold coins and loot.

Which loot should you Prioritize?

You have a lot of loot in your inventory. Now what? Two options are available to you. One, you have the Town Portal. You can sell your entire Stormfall inventory. Or you can dispose of unworthy gear and go on your destructive journey. What loot should you discard? Don’t discard any rare quality loot as those sell really well at Mohabi’s the equipment guy in Stormfall. Any lower-quality equipment is considered common or magic gear. Armors

Loot is what you want accessoriesFirst Belts ringsThese necklaces sell best, while weapons and armor are next in line. Accessories are the best to find and sell, but you won’t find them as much so prioritize weapons when looting.

Don’t forget the Town Portal

You’re talking about returning to Stormfall. If you’re only going back to sell loot, buy gems, change weapon, store gear or any other reason, use the Town Portal instead of opening the map and using the waypoint. You can travel to Stormfall, back to your home base or back to the original location using the Town Portal. Just make sure that the coast is clear before casting it, because there is a 4 to 5 seconds cast time before you get teleported and you don’t want to get smacked in the face while doing so.

Unique Merchant

During your campaign, you’ll find and meet a merchant named Fate-Adjucatrix Zeitgeist. The merchant will have rare and unique gear. You can find her by going to the Tributes Chamber waypoint, taking the south exit and following the chapter’s end. A few rare items and a special battleaxe were on sale. I didn’t have enough gold that time with me, so I didn’t get to buy the item. You can find her just a few steps from the NPC crossing the bridge during Chapter 2. She was selling the Seal of the Arbiter, a rare ring.

Now, what should you do with this information? Always keep plenty of gold coins on you, and be alert for the pouch icon on your mini-map. Merchants are represented by the pouch icon. Right now, I don’t know if she spawns randomly or in the same place and area that I mentioned, but I do know that if you see the pouch icon on the mini-map and left the area through a waypoint or entering the next area, she will disappear from that area for good. Another thing I should mention is that item selections or the unique equipment she sells is most probably randomized, but regardless save your money for these chance encounters so you don’t miss out on sweet loots.

Lords of Fashion

Sometimes, looting is a possibility. weapons armors you will find a small “New Skin Unlocked” notification with the name of the gear on the left side of your screen. Every time you find a new item in the game, it will be added to you skin list. You will then be able apply that skin to any armor or weapon. Every item in the game is eligible for a skin. However, there are some limitations on the weapon aspect. Weapon skins are restricted to their own weapons types, and that means you won’t be able to change a greatsword model into a bow model, or something of this nature.

You can also find 140 different dyes in Wolcen. These dyes are available to you to use for dyeing your equipment. To access them simply open the menu and select “Cosmetic Inventory”, or by pressing the shortcut key “B”. This service does not come at no cost. However, you’ll need to pay some gold coins in order to dye your equipment or change your skin.

Everything can be reset (mostly).

The game can be reset to almost all aspects. By everything, I refer to the Attributes, Gates of Fates and the Gates of Fates.passive skill tree( ) and your Skill modifiables. So don’t worry about what you put your attributes points into, or be too stressed about the massive passive skill tree, as you can reset those any time. This, of course, costs a fee, and if you want to reset your attributes you need gold coins, and if you want to reset your passive skills you’ll need Primordial Affinity. You can easily reset either of these in your character sheet page, and if you are wondering about your skill modifiers, don’t worry you can just “turn off” any modifier you have chosen and it will return back any used modifier points.

Escape Anytime

Wolcen has 6 achievementsThat you are not going to die, you will be able to earn those chapters. They are Completion Chapters 1 and 2, Level 30, 60 and 90, without you dying. It is difficult to avoid dying in Wolcen, but not impossible.

With that said I just want to convey that running from a fight is not stupid, and in most maps, you can return to the previous area if you’re getting too overwhelmed or close to dying, except for boss battles where you are usually locked into that location. You can warp back into Stormfall while being attacked. This can serve as your panic button – unless you’re able to obtain enough Primordial essence to change to an alternate form. AspectIf you die, then it is possible to do so again. You have 3 additional chances, or second wind, to fight back if your opponent dies. So make sure to count each second wind token.
