Given the depth of talent at every position, it is hard to rank the 100 top NHL players for the 2022/23 season.
We asked more than 50 ESPN hockey experts to rank NHL's top 100 players. They rated players on the basis of how well they would be in 2022-23 compared to their peers.
Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche With six players, they tied for second place in the Top 100 Players with New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning And the Vancouver Canucks. Emphasis was placed solely on expectations for the upcoming season and predicting potential greatness, rather than past performance, career résumé or positional value. The fact that only seven of the top 20 spots were occupied by the NHL's center position, which has been the source of its star power for decades, is a great indicator of the NHL's depth. The center does not contain the top seven slots, but it does include four.
