A memorial service will be held for Dwayne Hakins on April 22 in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — A memorial for Dwayne Hakins, who died in October killed this past SaturdayHe was hit by a truck. A memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh on April 22.

The service will be at the Allegheny Center Alliance Church, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A visitation precedes the memorial, Kalabrya, Dwayne haskins’ widow, stated Wednesday in a statement.

24-year-old Haskins was killed after he was struck by the dump truck at I-595 in South Florida on Saturday morning.

Kalabrya haskins released a statement saying that she was grateful to all those who supported her family through this difficult time. “The prayers and overwhelming thoughts have fuelled our emotional depletion. … “The meaningful touches and the impact Dwayne made to us as our husband, son, brother and friend are a treasure trove that we will forever cherish.”

She continued, “My husband wasn’t just a great football player. He smiled like a rainbow and touched so many people’s diversity. He will be remembered forever and will remain in our hearts till the end.

Heisman Trophy finalist from Ohio State, and a first round draft pick by the Washington CommandersIn 2019, Haskins entered his second season as a member of the Pittsburgh SteelersHe was visiting South Florida to bond with his teammates and train when he was shot and killed.

A memorial service for Haskins will also be held on April 23rd at noon at Christ Church Rockaway Township, New Jersey. The Bullis School in Potomac the day after will follow.
