All-Star guard Bradley Beal A five-year, maximum contract of $251 million has been agreed to by the Washington WizardsMark Bartelstein, Priority Sports’ agent, told ESPN that he was a member of ESPN. NBA free agency Thursday opening

Beal, who played for 10 years with the Wizards during his career, has now pledged himself to the franchise until his last breath.

Beal turned 29 this week. He averaged 23.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 40 games last season for Washington before undergoing season-ending wrist surgery. Beal was averaging at minimum 30 points per week in the preceding season. He also averaged 31.3 points per minute across 60 games during 2020-21 season.

Beal was the No. Beal was the No. Beal will now be able to aim for virtually every statistical mark that the franchise has to offer.

Washington hopes that these milestones will be followed by wins. Beal’s career saw the Wizards reach the Eastern Conference semifinals three times in their first four seasons. They have not reached the playoffs since Washington lost five games to the Philadelphia 76ers during the first round 2021 NBA playoffs.

Last year, Beal was sidelined for half of the season and the Wizards finished 12th in East. That’s eight games less than the final play-in spot in the East.

Washington will now watch and wait to see Beal’s midseason debut with Kristaps Porzingis. He was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks, but has not played a single game with Beal.

The Wizards’ second-year coach Wes Unseld Jr., and team president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard added to their roster by sending out guards IshSmith and Kentavious Caldwell–Pope in return for guards Monte Morris, Will Barton and Morris. Morris will take over as Washington’s starting point guard alongside Beal.

Washington also has a number of young players who could fill in for the team’s top four picks, including guard Johnny Davis (the 10th pick) and forwards Corey Kispert Rui Hachimura, Deni Advija and forwards Deni Advija.
