Adam Pelech and the New York Islanders agree to an 8-year agreement

EAST MEADOW (N.Y.) — The New York IslandersThe defenseman Adam PelechOn Friday, a contract of eight-years was reached.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the team.

Pelech turns 27 in this month. He had four goals, 10 assists, and 56 games during last season. New York reached the last four in the playoffs thanks to Pelech’s four assists and a goal in each of 19 games.

He was second in the Islanders’ total ice-time during the playoffs of 2021. He is also ranked second in this category for the Islanders over the past three playoff years. These included nine rounds of play and 49 games.

Pelech was chosen by the Islanders as their third-round pick in 2012’s NHL draft. In 303 NHL career games, he has scored 16 goals and assisted 59 times. He also had two goals in 48 playoff games and was awarded 10 assists.
