After a brawl with the Los Angeles Rams, Jon Gruden of Las Vegas Raiders sends his team to buses

THOUSAND OAKS CA — The brawl included punches, thrown headgears, and four start and stop points. Las Vegas RaidersCoach Jon Gruden will send his players on the buses and conclude Day 2 of the chippy joint practice with the team Los Angeles RamsThis Thursday

After several skirmishes, the opening practice was rescheduled for today.

Gruden stated, “That’s enough crap,” about an hour later in the hotel. “This is not good practice for football. That’s no good for anything, so this’s it.

Gruden frowned when Gruden was asked what his message to the team was after he called off practice with only two minutes remaining.

He said, “There is no message.” They know. They should know better. Everyone knows better. It wasn’t everyone fighting. You’ll be able to see the fight on television, with a lot of screaming and shouting — but there were only two men in special teams. Then it escalated into a lot more trash-talking. This is just sickening. That’s enough for me. To me, it’s child’s play.”

Sean McVay, Rams’ coach, said that he was sorry to have practice ended early.

McVay explained that there was only a bit of time left and that it felt the right decision to bag eight more plays during the remaining team periods. McVay said, “I didn’t see it. I had kind of heard about it. But other than me, it was a good thing that no one got hurt. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t finish it up. I will leave it as it is.”

Said Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald“Honestly, there has never been a joint practice that I have ever participated in where it wasn’t a fight. But how it happened yesterday and how physically it was, it made me pretty certain it would be — it will be — so come back, it will be a lot more BS.”

The Raiders’ quarterback was the most involved in the disputes over these two practices. Derek CarrI had an inkling as to why.

Carr explained Wednesday, “Well there is a reason that a lot fights took place on special team — they are fighting for a job.” Literally.

“I enjoy the fight… Fighting is good for everyone. At this stage of camp, everyone is tired. It doesn’t bother us as long as nobody gets hurt.

If that stuff continues to the next play, and you are getting poor shots, it is pointless. There is mutual respect.

The Rams cornerback and Raiders had been at war. Jalen RamseyFrom the beginning drill when he ran back, Josh JacobsJacobs was hit hard enough that he lost his balance and his helmet was popped off. Raiders received the award later. Hunter RenfrowRamsey was twice beaten on highlights-reel catch catches, and the Raiders’ sideline had a lot to talk about.

Ramsey made a snide comment about Renfrow’s drills. Carr pointed out Ramsey at 7-on-7s. Then, Carr completed a pass before Ramsey and shouted, “There is another one!” Carr joked later that Ramsey’s talking caused the brawl.

Raiders defensive end Maxx CrosbyCrosby was right in the middle the final fight. Crosby had laughed the day before when Crosby was asked about his practice’s chippiness.

Crosby stated that it was all “fun” at the time. The preseason is where you get to punch your nails. You can get away with doing a little more. Tempers get flaring. It’s what it is. It is your first day of going against another person. These are just some of the things that can happen.

“You won’t get kicked out a game. It’s possible to throw some punches. It is just what it is.

Jacobs said that Ramsey didn’t take a poor shot after his helmet fell off.

I didn’t have my helmet on so it was not on me. He was not supposed to be called a dirty player, even though I know it’s not like that.

You can see our men and the way we react to things, but you also see their team and the ease with which they let certain things happen. The fact that they have that fighting spirit is what I love about our team. Not only did they have each other’s backs,”
