Edmonton beat Vegas 4-0 to lock Calgary, Pacific Division leader, into the postseason.
The Flames (46-20-9) are the Pacific Division’s top team and became the third Western Conference club to qualify for the playoffs, after Colorado and St. Louis.
Darryl Sutter, Flames coach, stated that it is extremely difficult to reach the playoffs. “Only half of the league’s teams make it. With only two weeks remaining in the season, we made it to the playoffs.”

After the first period, Arizona was leading 1-0 Nick Ritchie‘s first-minute goal. The Flames opened the game with four goals in 2:33.
“We had a good first period, then they had a push in the second where they scored four goals on four shots,” Coyotes coach André Tourigny said. “We were out, and I think it was hard for us to bounce back after.”
This was the second-fastest four goal run in Flames franchise history. It was only one shy of the 1:21 span against San Jose on February 10, 1993.
“It was exciting for all of us. The fans are excited. Gaudreau declared, “We were fired up.” “At this point, it was only a three-goal match and we had to push on.”
Tkachuk and Lindholm each scored their 39th goals, while Gaudreau got his 36th.
Calgary has seven remaining games in their regular-season schedule, including two at home.
Tkachuk stated that “we still have a lot of things to play for.” “We know that we are now in a position where we can play a good team going into the playoffs. It’s huge to have home ice. We are playing for that and trying our best to play good hockey going in.”
