Al Sobotka, Detroit Red Wings’ Zamboni driver who octopi-twirling Zamboni driver claims he was fired after urinating in drain.

DETROIT – A very popular Zamboni driver who drives to the Detroit Red WingsHe claimed that he had urinated in a drain and was fired.

Two months after being fired from the Red Wings, Al Sobotka filed this discrimination lawsuit against Olympia Entertainment. It was two months later that he had filed it. His lawyer claimed that he has a medical condition that causes him frequent urination.

Sobotka (68) couldn’t go to the bathroom so he used a drain which carries ice runoff from Little Caesars Arena. It was reported by someone that someone saw him.

Deborah Gordon, attorney, stated that he believed no one was inside the building. “He didn’t get any warning or second chance.”

Olympia Entertainment stated that it would not comment on any legal matter.

Sobotka was also known for steering the Zamboni at Red Wings game. He is also well-known for taking out octopus from the ice, which was a Detroit tradition at Olympia Stadium and Joe Louis Arena. As he swirled the sea creatures above his head, fans cheered.

Gordon claimed that Sobotka’s problem with his prostate was known to management.

Sobotka said that he was shocked by his dismissal to WDIV-TV. “I was confused. Heartbroken, yes.”
