Baker Mayfield, QB, sends a message to Cleveland fans thanking them for their support on the same day that Deshaun Watson and Browns brass meet.

That equation was about to change when Watson’s grand jury decided not to indict him. Mayfield’s future is now uncertain with the franchise who selected him No. 1, overall, in the 2018 draft.

Over four seasons, Mayfield has seen a turbulent and up-and-down time in Cleveland. Through his three first seasons in the league, he was under four different head coaches. However, Mayfield was able to lead Cleveland to its first playoff win in 26 years during its 2020 season.

He suffered a torn labrum injury in his left non-throwing shoulder in Week 2. The injury was severe and he struggled for the remainder of the season. He finished 27th in QBR and the Browns missed the playoffs. His 8-9 record was disappointing.

Mayfield underwent surgery to fix the labrum Jan. 19, and is expected be fully healed before training camp. Mayfield is entering his final year of the rookie deal that will pay $19 million in 2022.
