Baltimore Ravens will try to make offseason practices more efficient and less injury-prone after a disappointing season

PALM BEACH (Fla.) — One of the most injury-prone years in American history. Baltimore RavensThe 2022 season will be different from the previous seasons.

After a season where Baltimore had 25 players placed on injured reserve, the Ravens have changed the structure of the offseason training camps and spring workouts. John Harbaugh, Ravens coach said that limiting injuries is “priority one,” for certain.

Harbaugh said that “we think we have some really great ideas, and it’s exciting for me,” he told reporters at the NFL league meeting. “We’re going approach OTAs [Offseason Training Activities] differently. We are going to approach training camp, some major-picture schedules differently in terms how we ramp, in terms how we time practices, how long they last on the field, what we do on the field, and how we pace our practices.”

Harbaugh stated that each practice at training camp is different from a normal one.

Harbaugh stated that the practice would be shorter, more focused on execution, and less competitive. “Even though our practices will be less one-on-one,” Harbaugh stated. [starters against starters]We are now doing more than we ever have in the past. I believe that such things will benefit us.

The Ravens suffered a 19-day stretch last summer in which five of their running backs and three wide receivers sustained season-ending injuries. Other notable players: wide receiver Marquise Hollywood Brown (hamstring), cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey(groin) Jimmy Smith(ankle and guard) Kevin Zeitler(foot) – They were out of action for a total of 93 days during training camp, before being able to return.

Football Outsiders reported that the Ravens had a league-worst 191.2 Adjusted Game Loss due to injuries last year.

Harbaugh stated that the Ravens’ extensive investigation into the injuries did not yield any definitive answers.

Harbaugh stated, “I don’t know if there have been any conclusions as to why these injuries occurred.” “Nobody can draw those conclusions. We’ve listened. All the studies have been reviewed. All the NFL personnel were interviewed. They’re all doing studies. There are no definitive answers to the question of “This is the cause and effect.” But we’ve looked at all we’ve done.
