Baylor Bears’ starters James Akinjo and Kendall Brown announce that they will enter the NBA draft

WACO (Texas) — Baylor standout freshman Kendall BrownPoint guard James AkinjoBoth men announced Wednesday that they would be entering the NBA draft.

The players made their individual decisions via their social media accounts.

Akinjo had one more season of eligibility at Baylor. After leading Arizona in scoring, he transferred to Baylor last season. He started his college career at Georgetown.

Brown, a five star recruit whose father is a Harlem Globetrotters player, was an average scorer of 9.7 points and 4.9 boards per game, while starting all 34 Bears games. He is expected to be the No. 25 pick in ESPN’s latest mock draft.

“I am so grateful for everything I have experienced at Baylor University this season!” Brown shared his thoughts in a Twitter statement.

Akinjo, who averaged 13.5 points per match, ranked ninth among the Big 12 and was the conference’s leader with 5.8 assists per contest.

Akinjo posted an Instagram message stating that he decided to follow his dream and enter the NBA draft. He had discussed it with his family. Akinjo stated that he would hire an agent.

Akinjo wrote, “Thank you to Baylor’s coaching staff for welcoming my into the program, and to my teammates who helped me improve every day,” in a part of Akinjo’s post.

After joining a Baylor team coming off a national title last season, Brown and Akinjo were promoted to starters.

The Bears were No. The Bears were the No.1 seed in the East Region and lost in overtime to North Carolina in the second round NCAA tournament. Baylor overcome a 25 point deficit in the second period and tied the score with Akinjo’s third three-point play in regulation.
