CHARLOTTE N.C. Brooklyn NetsSwingman will be able for his season debut while he continues to heal from a back injury. Nets coach Steve Nash announced that Simmons will join his team in Philadelphia on Wednesday, and will sit on their bench during Thursday’s match.

When Nash was asked Tuesday if Simmons would benefit from being in Philadelphia’s environment, he quickly answered.
Nash stated, “It’s fantastic.” He’s part of our team. He needs to be there with his teammates and sort out the Philly thing. Although it may not go away completely, it is nice to just deal with it for the first time and then move on.
Nash stated that he would be happy to speak to Simmons about the reception he expects to receive, but he is confident Simmons, a former All-Star, knows what’s ahead.
Nash said, “I don’t believe he is naive enough to think that he’s going to get some bums.” “I hope that he enjoys this. It’s an aspect of the game that I don’t like.”
The question of when Simmons may be able again to play is not yet answered. Simmons seemed optimistic about Philadelphia’s opening news conference. But, he has been struggling with back soreness for the last week and half as he works to make the transition to being able to play again in the next nine months. Simmons has not been cleared to practice yet and it’s unclear when.
Next formal practice for the Nets is set for Saturday in Brooklyn.
Nash stated that “it’s to be determined.” “I believe that he is making progress this week. But I don’t know what Saturday means. We’ll see him. [Wednesday]In Philly. He’s not ready for 5-on-5, but he is improving and working out. He’ll be joining us in Philly after a few good days rehab.
Veteran Nets guard Goran DragicSimmons knows Philadelphia’s atmosphere is intense, but he doesn’t think Simmons will have any problems with it.
Dragic stated that “it’s likely not going to be pleasant.” The same as Toronto [for me]It is, however. All of us are professionals athletes. It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks, so just get out there and perform your best. It doesn’t matter if it’s not serious.
Drummond also shared the same sentiment regarding being back home in Philadelphia.
Drummond stated that it would be a playoff-like environment. “I believe, based on the trade and them playing them again and obviously the Ben situation, it’s only two teams that have an excellent chance of meeting each other in Eastern Conference finals. It’s going be a great game.
Drummond will likely play a bit more than usual in the next few matches, as Nash stated center LaMarcus AldridgeAfter a hip MRI, he will miss at least two of the remaining games. The Nets take on the Charlotte HornetsWith a record of 32-33, they are tied with the Hornets for eighth in the Eastern Conference. They have lost 17 out of 20 games in the last 20.
Despite the current standings, Nash knows that Thursday’s focus will be on Simmons’ return home to Philadelphia.
Nash explained that the first time one returns to a city following a trade is always awkward and different. He said that there is a history, so it will be okay. He is a big boy, and he is excited to be a part of our team. He’d like to sit on the bench alongside his teammates.
