Brooklyn Nets Governor Joe Tsai expresses support for front office and coaches following Kevin Durant’s trade demands

Brooklyn Nets Governor Joe Tsai praised Monday night the front office staff and coaches after he was elected. Kevin Durant Tsai was asked to choose between Tsai and the general manager and coach of the team.

ESPN sources confirmed that Durant and Tsai met in London recently. Durant expressed his desire for a trade and suggested that the franchise need to make a decision between him and Sean Marks, general manager, and Steve Nash.

Durant requested a trade June 30, and has not backed down from that request. Durant, 33, has four years left on his contract and $198 million. Brooklyn can wait for teams to offer the return it hopes for in order for a star player to reach the trade market.

The Athletic reported that Durant and Tsai met for the first time on the one year anniversary of Durant signing his extension.

The Nets have not been able to achieve their goals since then.

Durant was injured in an Achilles tear and was unable to play for the 2019 season. Jordan was traded and Nash was hired as Atkinson’s replacement. James Harden has gone and come back. Ben Simmons He has yet to make the Nets debut. Irving elected to enter the final year on his contract, but has not been granted an extension. Irving played in 29 games during the last season, after he decided to forgo the COVID-19 vaccine.

Irving had made a list of potential teams that the Nets might consider signing-and-trading with if they could’t agree on terms to allow him to remain in Brooklyn. But the Los Angeles Lakers Sources confirmed that only one team was interested in the deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Irving is no longer eligible for sign-and trade. Irving could be traded by the Nets as an expiring contract. But Irving would not have any formal voice in a possible landing spot.

He has until June 30, 2013, to reach an extension agreement with the Nets, before becoming an unrestricted-free agent.
