The Wasps have signed Burger Odendaal, a South African centre for the 2022-23 seasons.
Ex-Bulls Captain, aged 28, will join Emirates Lions’ Premiership club. There he was the leader of the side in the United Rugby Championship.
Odendaal also worked in Japan with John Mitchell, the Bulls’ attack coach.
“John Mitchell is a good friend of him and recommended him. We’re thrilled to have Burger in our squad,” Lee Blackett, head Coach said.
“We were looking to find a centre with outstanding leadership qualities and an outstanding competitor on field. Burger meets all our criteria.
“Burger will add authority and a tangible edge to our midfield next summer.”
Odendaal will arrive to help Wasps make up for Jimmy Gopperth’s loss and Malakai Fekitoa’s departure. who are both leaving The Coventry-based club at season’s end.
