The 32-year-old quarterback was a free agent and complained in Monday’s podcast about women who can’t cook and don’t know when they should be quiet.
“Now, a woman for me is managing your own needs but knowing how to cater for a man’s. Right?” Newton spoke on the podcast. “And I think that a lot times when you get that visual of like, “I’m a boss —-,” I’m this, it’s that.
“No, baby! But you can’t cook. You don’t know when it is okay to be quiet. You don’t know how to give a man the opportunity to lead.

He replied to Jourdan Rodrigue’s question about his female counterparts discussing routes. “It’s funny.”
The league issued a statement at that time saying, “The comments just plain wrong, disrespectful to the exceptional female journalists and all journalists. They don’t reflect the league’s thinking.
Newton later apologized for his actions in a two minute video, but did not address Rodrigue by name.
He said that he had thought about it and realized that his word choice was very degrading to women. To be truthful, I did not intend that. “To be honest, that was not my intention. I deeply regret it.
When asked for comments on Newton’s recent comments, the league didn’t immediately respond.
After being selected as the top pick in the 2011 draft, Newton spent the first nine NFL seasons with Panthers. He was with the Panthers for the 2020 season. New England Patriots, but it was cut at the close of the 2021 training camps.
He signed a one year deal with the Panthers in the latter part of last season. Last season, he was 0-5 as the starting pitcher.
