Sources say that Sean Kugler, Cardinals assistant coach, was fired for groping a woman

TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona Cardinals Sources told ESPN that Sean Kugler, offensive line coach and running games coordinator, was fired following a weekend of groping in Mexico City.

Mexican authorities were informed of the incident Sunday night and informed the Cardinals. Kugler was then terminated and returned to Arizona on Monday morning. On Saturday, the Cardinals arrived in Mexico City.

Kugler is the second Cardinals assistant coaches to be charged with assaulting a woman.

After he had assaulted a woman at her Indianapolis home, James Saxon, a former running backs coach, turned himself in to Indiana Police in May. He was sentenced to one-year imprisonment, which was suspended, followed by one-year probation.

Saxon remained with the Cardinals until August 4, when his arrest was made public. He was then placed on administrative leave. Saxon resigned his position in October.

Kugler has been a coach at all levels of football, including college and high school. He joined Kliff Kingbury’s team in 2019.

The Cardinals were defeated 38-10 by the San Francisco 49ers on Monday at Estadio Azteca.
