Chicago Bears release Tarik Cohen (injury designation)

CHICAGO — Chicago BearsAre you running back? Tarik CohenSource told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that an injury had been given.

Cohen, 26, missed 31 of the previous two seasons after torn his ACL in Week 3 2020’s season. The league year’s third day will see Cohen receive $2.5 million of his $3.9 million base salary.

Ryan Poles, general manager of the NFL Scouting Combine, refused to answer questions about Cohen’s health.

Poles stated, “I don’t really want to get into medical aspects of individual players but we’ll just take it day by day to figure out where he’s at for us.”

The former North Carolina A&T product was drafted in the fourth round by Chicago in 2017 where he shared the backfield with former Bears running back Jordan HowardFor two seasons. Cohen earned first-team All Pro honors in 2018 and a Pro Bowl bid. In 2018, Cohen rushed 99 times for 444 yard and three touchdowns, and caught 71 pass for 725 yards and five scores.

In September 2020, Cohen was signed by Chicago to a $17.25 Million contract extension.
