CHICAGO —Place right-handed starter (Abdominal strain) & outfielder (right hamstring strain), placed on the injured-list Tuesday, while Triple-A Charlotte pitchers Jimmy Lambert & Anderson Severino were recalled.
Giolito will only miss two starts on Friday, after he left Opening Day after just four innings.
“I feel significantly more positive with each day,” he stated Tuesday morning. “I have been able keep my arm moving, which was very important to me during this process.”
Giolito was due to throw the outfield in preparation for the White Sox game against theTuesday. If all goes according to plan, he will be back on the mound shortly.
Giolito said, “It is a nice ramp-up, then get back outside there.”
Giolito's spot in the rotation will be taken by Lambert. After throwing three innings in Triple A last week, he will start Thursday's game against Mariners. He was a fifth-round selection in 2016, having started three major league games during his career.
Pollock is currently on paternity leaves, so the White Sox deemed it better to place him on injured reserve so that they can evaluate his hamstring injury when Pollock returns later in week.
Charlotte has had Severino (27) in two games this season. He allowed four runs on three hits, and struck out four times over 2.1 innings.
