CINCINNATI — At least one game will see the AFC champions change their look.
The Cincinnati Bengals The alternate helmets were revealed for the next season. The team’s lids will be white instead of their traditional orange for the first time in franchise history. The primary orange color of the striped helmet, which has been in use since 1981, will be replaced by white.
According to reports, the NFL issued a memo in June allowing clubs to use a secondary helmet. To get official approval, teams that wanted to use a second helmet must notify the league before July 31st.
Cincinnati joins New York Giants, New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys And Carolina Panthers As teams that will benefit from the loosening restrictions.
Cincinnati also tinkered with their uniforms for the second consecutive year. The Bengals released new jerseys last year for the first time since 2003.
A team spokesperson said that the Bengals will announce next week when they will wear their white helmets for this season.
