The NHL announced Saturday that they had the New York IslandersTheir schedules were delayed by at least one month due to a COVID-19 epidemic within the membership.
The Islanders have had to deal with a smaller lineup for several video games and one additional participant entered COVID protocols Saturday. New York could have been without eight common skaters, so the league decided to shut down the staff and try to include the players.
As a result of COVID, Gamers were already inaccessible. Josh Bailey, Anders Lee, Kieffer Bellows Ross JohnstonDefensemen and, Zdeno Chara, Adam Pelech Andy Greene.
The Islanders were scheduled to play in the New York RangersSunday and the Philadelphia FlyersTuesday. As soon as the NHL receives a better deal on the well-being and scheduling of its players, the NHL will reschedule the games and reevaluate Islanders’ remaining schedule accordingly.
New York was under COVID pressure for nearly two weeks. However, the league did not appear to have reached a threshold of absences that required them to intervene until Saturday’s growth.
The NHL has postponed games for the Ottawa SenatorsThe COVID protocol was first used earlier in the month by 10 gamers and an assist coach. This season however, the San Jose SharksSeven skaters were unable to participate due to virus and the Pittsburgh PenguinsThere were a few gamers and Mike Sullivan who had to deal with sickness. There have not been any cancellations.
Invoice Daly, NHL deputy commissioner, stated that every decision is made in conjunction with medical staffs and that all pieces are reviewed on a case by case basis.
Lou Lamoriello, normal supervisor of the NHL, was asked by the Islanders to explain why they hadn’t paused New York’s season prior to their new residence rink, UBS Enviornment.
Lamoriello stated to reporters that he had no idea of the edge’s exact location. “I think that’s within the reach of the docs. That includes both the Nationwide Hockey League and Gamers’ Affiliation. Also, any infectious disease patients. Although I have requested the query, I am not certain if there are any. [a certain number of illnesses needed to postpone games].”
At the very least, the Islanders might have the chance to regroup. The Islanders had to start the season with a 13-game street trip, while UBS Enviornment was being finished. This, along with the fact that there were not enough gamers, was a major factor in New York’s 5-10-2 start to the season and its current position at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division standings.
