Dave Attwood, a former England lock, is returning to Bath for the 2022/23 season.

Attwood, aged 34, will be leaving Bristol at the end the campaign. This comes three years after he left the Rec.

During an eight-year spell at Bath, where he made 157 appearances, including in the 2015 Premiership final loss against Saracens.

Attwood began his career in Bristol in 2007. He then moved to Gloucester in 2009 and Bath 2011 in 2011.

In early 2018, he was also on loan to Toulon, a French side.

“We have been looking for a second rower who is physically strong and can be brought in,” Stuart Hooper (Bath director of rugby) told BBC Radio Bristol.

“He’s an international second-row player of the highest quality, a Premiership player who will be with us for all year. He can also help us to develop our set pieces and our carry game through traffic when there are games that are short and you need to make room.

In his two stints with Bristol, Attwood played 71 games.

Forward: “It’s great that I’m back to Bath, and I look forward to the chance to play at Rec once more in front of so many fans whom I have become acquainted over such a long period at the club,” he said.

“My family and i have settled in the area. I’m eager to help the young players develop and contribute.

“My time at Bristol was a great experience and I am grateful to Pat Lam, the Lansdown family, for the opportunities that I was offered. I can assure you that I will be fully committed to the rest of the season and then focus on the next chapter in my career.
