SANTA CLARA CA — As the San Francisco 49ers Open training camp Wednesday with wide receivers Deebo Samuel They are present but they do not participate in their first practice.
Although the Niners have been optimistic that Samuel will soon sign a lucrative, long-term deal with them, it has yet to materialize. Samuel is, in NFL parlance, a “holdin” today. According to Kyle Shanahan coach, Samuel will not practice Wednesday. Instead, he will do some conditioning side by side.
Shanahan stated, “We all know that there’s a lot happening with Deebo right currently.” “We’ll watch what happens. Deebo had a great conversation. No matter what happens, Deebo will continue to travel the world and condition his side. We’ll be watching where he goes. We’re hopeful that we will find a solution soon. However, we are in a great place right now.”
Negotiations between Samuel and the Niners are continuing with general manager John Lynch stating Tuesday that he hopes the sides will announce something in the “near future”. Samuel wanted a trade with the Niners, but they refused. The Niners believed that they could solve any issues and keep their star receiver.
Lynch stated that “we’re focused on getting it done.” “Deadlines and there’s no hard deadline, but deadlines can spur these things into action. We’ve had many productive talks, as I mentioned.
Although there is no deadline, it would be reasonable to try and get Samuel signed by Monday. This will be the first fully padded practice for the team after this week’s acclimation.
Samuel will be at the sideline for Wednesday’s practice. However, the quarterback will be there. Jimmy Garoppolo We will not be present.
Garoppolo passed his physical Tuesday afternoon. He is currently undergoing his recovery throwing program following surgery to his right shoulder in March. However, Garoppolo is not required to attend practice and meetings as the Niners plan to move on from Garoppolo.
Shanahan said, “We’re saying, ‘go ahead. You don’t need to be here.'” He can do whatever he wants. Jimmy, John, and I spoke for quite a while. We have a good understanding of the whole situation. I think each side knows as much as they can.
“I’ll keep in contact with Jimmy. We’ll continue doing that and take it day by day.”
