He claimed that he would not be concerned if Detroit selected another signal-caller in the draft.
He won’t allow himself to think about a mentorship role unless it happens.

Goff said that there is no way to stop the Lions talking about the possibility of another quarterback being selected.

General Manager Lions Brad HolmesDoubled down once more to say that the Lions are still looking for a player who can change the game in the next draft. He wouldn’t say anything about specific plans, except that the Lions have their prospects narrowed down.

Holmes stated, “That’s the bottom line.” Holmes stated that patience and sitting back are good qualities. You just have to assess the value of your draft board.
Holmes is well-respected for his draft assessment, even before joining the Lions. Holmes worked as a draft analyst for the Detroit Lions before he moved to Detroit. Los Angeles RamsOrganisation from 2013-20. Most recently, he was the director for college scouting and was credited with drafting Aaron Donald Cooper Kupp.
The Lions last drafted a quarterback in 2017, when they chose Brad Kaaya, a Miami native, during the sixth round. They’re currently looking at all their options.
Holmes said that he has stated all positions, so if it is a quarterback, it must be a quarterback. Holmes stated that Holmes picked up the position because it is often said that the quarterback, pass rusher, or tackle are the most important. Holmes said, “But, look. I’ve stated from Day 1 that I would like to see a game-changer at any of the positions and we can see multiple positions where they could be. It will be interesting to see what happens, depending on how they develop. However, we feel confident in the coaching staff that we have developed those players.
