Sale signed Dominic Barrow, an ex-lock for Newcastle and Leicester.
Barrow, 28 years old, retired from rugby in 2020 to start a business. However, he has since returned to rugby after impressing during a Sharks trial.
Barrow said, “I’ve gained far greater perspective since I spent a little time away rugby,” told the club website.
“But, I have a burning wish to get back in the sport as it feels I have not finished business.”
Barrow was part in the England Under-20 side that won the 2013 Junior World Championship.
He previously captained England’s Under-16 and Under-18 teams. He joined Newcastle in 2013.
Barrow joined Leicester in 2002 and made over 50 appearances for the Tigers. He was then hampered by injury issues at Northampton.
He stated, “I believe I can achieve international honours, but I haven’t reached my potential yet.”
Sales have not disclosed the length of Barrow’s contract.
