South Africa beat England at Twickenham in a comfortable win to end England’s autumn in deflating fashion.
Kurt-Lee Arendse, wing of Springbok, raced in for a long score that gave his side a healthy lead following a tense first half.
Eben Etzebeth, the visitor, turned the screws and made it 24-6 after 51 minute.
England briefly had hope when Thomas du Toit, a replacement prop, was given a red card for his high shot on Luke Cowan–Dickie.
As the clock ticked down, Henry Slade’s attempt was all they could muster against 14 men. The hope of a remarkable comeback to match New Zealand’s draw with New Zealand faded.
England ends the autumn with one win – a comfortable win over Japan – after only four matches.
