Golden State Warriors veteran forward Andre Iguodala returning for 19th NBA season

Andre Iguodala Will return to the NBA for his 19th season with the Golden State WarriorsThe veteran made the announcement on Friday morning’s PointForward podcast.

He will fill the 14th spot on the team’s roster for training camp. This will be Iguodala’s last season.

Iguodala said that he was going to blame “a few people” on his podcast, referring to his decision to continue with the second season. Steph Curry is the one I will blame. Steph Curry is the one I blame. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are the others. Steve (Kerr), Bob Myers in a small way, I believe they just showed me a lot more love. They were able to see me beyond basketball. But, I believe Steve was the biggest culprit in saying, “We really need your presence on the court.” Draymond was also a big believer in this.

The Warriors held Iguodala’s roster spot all offseason and tried not to pressure him into making a decision. Bob Myers, Warriors general manager, said that no deals were made over the summer which would have forced them to rush Iguodala.

Iguodala stated that he was “retired for most of the summer,” but after speaking with his teammates, Warriors staff and his family, he decided he wanted to return.

Iguodala had four points, 30 percent shooting, 3.7 assist and 3.2 rebound in 31 games last season. Iguodala missed six of the final regular season games with injuries. Then he was forced to miss the playoffs due to a cervical disc injury. Iguodala plays a significant role for the Warriors.

In a press conference, Bob Myers, Warriors general manager, stated that there is so much he does off the court that isn’t on the court. He brings that level of stability and leadership to a team. Steve and I can talk to Andre. He just knows. He is very intelligent. He is a true professional. He is a true professional. He is an expert in the league. He has seen many games. It’s insane how many Finals he has played in. He is someone you want to be around.

“I am looking forward to playing but I am on Jonathan Kuminga. Moses Moody,” Iguodala said. “I’m on the young men and I’m letting you know that if I get onto this court, it’s not right.” You shouldn’t allow me to go on the court.”

Iguodala stated that he was returning to Golden State to help Curry cement his legacy and win their fourth title in eight year. Iguodala wanted to quit after that but the Finals MVP said he needed his teammate again.

Iguodala stated, “I’m letting You Know Steph,” looking directly into the camera. “This is the last one.”
