Harlequins and Gloucester: The Premiership match at Twickenham

Harlequins play Northampton in the Premiership at Twickenham
Twickenham Stadium was packed with fans as Harlequins beat Northampton in December.

Due to high demand on tickets, Harlequins Premiership match against Gloucester on 21 May was moved to Twickenham Stadium.

The Twickenham Stoop has sold every league match played by the Quins, the reigning champions.

England’s national stadium holds 82,000, compared with Quins’ 14,800 capacity.

This is the second appearance of Quins at Twickenham this year, following their December win over Northampton.

The ‘Big Summer Kick Off’ is a festival-style event that will include entertainment and a variety of activities, as well as the match. It also includes touch rugby and community sevens competitions.

Laurie Dalrymple (chief executive at Harlequins) stated, “We wanted to give as many supporters as possible the chance to see the match.”

“This is a great opportunity for the club to grow and the extra income from the event is vital to the club’s long-term financial stability.”
