Houston Texans WR John Metchie III surprises family members during cancer recovery

​​Houston Texans rookie wide receiver John Metchie IIIThe patient was diagnosed with a type of leukemia in JulyHe surprised his patients and nurses with a Monday evening at NRG Stadium.

The 2022 second-round pick from Alabama gave the group a tour of the stadium and gifts and concluded the night by serving them dinner in the team café. Metchie’s cancer treatment has been supported by them all, so the gesture was meant to be appreciated.

“It’s a blessing for me to be a blessing.” Metchie III, Texans’ website administrator, stated that it is a good idea to keep this thought in mind. “It doesn’t matter what your situation, or how low you may be, it is always a blessing if you can be a blessing in someone’s life.”

Metchie is currently on the non-football sick list. He is not expected to play in this season’s football league. However, he has been working out at the Texans’ facility while he is recovering. Metchie has been present at Texans practices occasionally, which has helped teammates feel a little more motivated.

Lovie Smith, Texans coach said that John had been under our prayers. “But it’s good for him to be back in the full.” He is a member of our family. John is a family member. Everyone knows this. It means so much to be visual. It was nice to see that special smile today.
