TAMPA, Fla. — New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin The Vezina Trophy was awarded to the NHL's best goalie, on Tuesday night at the NHL Awards.
Shesterkin helped the Rangers achieve a turnaround season, which saw them reach the Eastern Conference Finals. They lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.
Shesterkin was the league's leader in goals-against average (2.07) and save percentage (0.935) during the regular season.
Shesterkin declared at the ceremony that it was a great honor to be here. It's great to play for New York Rangers. It's an amazing feeling.
Calder Trophy was awarded to the league's top player for the first year. Voters looked to the blue lines to determine who that award went to.
