James Wiseman’s return from Golden State Warriors was delayed by swelling in his right knee.

SAN FRANCISCO Golden State Warriorscenter James WisemanBecause of swelling in his right leg, he has had to be rescheduled for game action.

Wiseman did not practice on Friday or Saturday, so he will not participate in any Santa Cruz Warriors G League matches this weekend.

It is not clear when he will be available to resume team activities.

Steve Kerr, Warriors coach, said that they would pause to see how the knee reacts.

Kerr claims that the team hasn't discussed the idea to shut Wiseman out for the season. However, with only 12 regular-season matches left, they are running out time to get him back on the court.

Kerr stated, “We cannot make a decision based upon the schedule.” We can't base our decisions on the playoffs. James' future and career should be the focus of every decision.

ESPN sources said last month that Wiseman, if he is healthy, probably wouldn't be in the Warriors playoff rotation. The focus would be on making Wiseman a factor for them next year. This mindset is made more probable by his latest speed bump.

Wiseman only played in three college games and 39 NBA matches before tearing his meniscus in April. After undergoing an initial surgery to repair his meniscus, swelling caused him to slow down in December. He was then required to undergo a scope procedure.

The team was alerted to the latest bout of swelling a few days before practice. The training staff then decided to keep him out of basketball activities.

Kerr stated that he felt terrible for James. “I will continue to remind him that he's only 20 years of age. His whole future is ahead of him. We have to be extremely, seriously cautious. We must do what is best for him over the long term.”
