Kansas City Chiefs appoint Matt Nagy, former Chicago Bears coach, as senior assistant and QB Coach

Nagy was fired last week after serving four seasons as the team’s head coach. Chicago BearsOn Friday, he was promoted to senior assistant and became the quarterbacks coach for the Chiefs.

Nagy, 43 years old, was with Chiefs for five consecutive seasons, from 2013 to 2017, as the offensive coordinator. This was his last season when Mahomes was a rookie quarterback and Mahomes was the backup quarterback to Alex Smith.

Nagy was also the offensive coordinator in 2016, and was the quarterbacks coach for his three first seasons in Kansas City.

Nagy’s record in the Bears regular season was 34-31, with 6-11 last year. He was the NFL’s 2018 Coach of the Year, for his leadership in the Bears’ 12-4 record and NFC North championship. He twice led the Bears into the playoffs, but he didn’t win a single game.

Nagy has replaced Mike Kafka, the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. New York Giants.
