Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James acquired one other birthday greeting after he turned 38 on Friday. This time from the person he’s chasing on the NBA’s all-time scoring listing: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Abdul-Jabbar, the Naismith Basketball Corridor of Famer and six-time NBA champion, shouted out LeBron on Saturday morning.
Glad birthday, LeBron. 38 is the brand new 38,388.

The 38,388 he’s referring to is the all-time factors complete, which might surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s report of 38,387 factors scored. Abdul-Jabbar performed for the Milwaukee Bucks and Lakers from 1969-89. He set the all-time NBA scoring mark in April of 1984, some eight months earlier than James was born.
James is 528 factors behind Abdul-Jabbar’s report. According to ESPN’s projection, James will break the report in early February of 2023.
King James took one other large chunk out of the purpose deficit on his birthday. He scored 47 factors on Friday night time in a 130-121 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
“The dude is nothing in need of phenomenal, wonderful,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said after the game. “However it’s one thing I count on. Like, it does not blow me away. It is simply one thing I count on from him. It is identical to, ‘Rattling! Keep it up.'”
