Durant made these comments before Brooklyn’s Wednesday game against Grizzlies. Durant says he is able to see some of the game’s greats while watching Morant, 22 years old, play night after evening.
Durant said, “He’s an amalgamation of players. I believe that.” “I think that the greatest players of our game can change into any player at any time. Ja is on his way. His game is filled with three to four Hall of Famers. From [Allen]Iverson, to him might make a [Michael]Jordan-like layup or he could run down the court like an a [Russell]Westbrook or a [Derrick Rose].
His float game is among the best I’ve ever seen. Although we are playing against each other, I don’t want him to get too gassed up. But I believe the sky is the limit for him. His future looks bright. He is a great player, and makes everyone better…even opponents. I look forward to seeing how that turns out.
Durant continues to find his own unique air every night. Durant doesn’t think it is surprising that Morant has led the Grizzlies this season to such success in the short-term. Morant enjoys the team built by the Grizzlies around Morant, and he is eager to meet the hungry and young group.
Durant stated, “When you look at their collection of guys — all hard-nosed men with chips on the shoulder,” Durant said. “They’re well-coached… so you have the addition of Steven Adams, you got Kyle Anderson, you got Tyus JonesThey have solid, veteran players who can help the younger players in the league. Their team had a balanced mix of players, which I believe is a positive sign.
