Kelly Smiley, a freelance photographer and photo editor at the NFL, NBA, NHL, and NFL, stated Thursday that she fractured her spine after falling backwards from the stage. She also tweeted that both her cameras had been broken.
Stafford seemed to see that Smiley had fallen and then walked off in a viral video. Kelly Stafford, however, ran to Smiley’s side and checked on him. Matthew Stafford was widely criticized for his reaction to the video on social media.
Stafford and the Rams jointly stated that they have been in touch with Kelly Smiley ever since the incident yesterday and were sorry for what happened. “We told Kelly that we will cover her hospital bills and replace her cameras. We wish her speedy recovery.
Smiley’s GoFundMe page was set up to aid her and has received more than $42,000 of donations by Thursday afternoon.
