LOS ANGELES — Rams Have placed quarterback Matthew Stafford On injured reserve
Stafford could be eligible to rejoin the active roster for Week 17.
Stafford hasn’t played since injuring his neck during the Rams’ Week 11, loss to the Rams. New Orleans SaintsHe left the game after being examined for a concussion. After taking a blow in that game, Coach Sean McVay stated that Stafford felt numb in his legs. Stafford passed the concussion protocol in December 2.
Stafford was playing against Saints two days after his initial concussion protocol clearance. McVay said Stafford was first allowed to enter the concussion protocol Nov. 8. This was after the Rams’ medical team “decided that that was the best thing” for him.
McVay stated that Stafford didn’t show any symptoms during the game the day after he entered the concussion protocol. He stated that “some of the questions” Stafford had been asked after the match by the medical staff made him feel like they felt like “Hey! The appropriate thing for this person and this player is to put them in the protocol.”
McVay was interviewed on December 2, the day Stafford completed the concussion protocol, to ask McVay about his plans to play again as the starting quarterback.
McVay acknowledged that Matthew was the ultimate competitor. However, McVay said that he believes that McVay is correct in saying that McVay thinks so “in many instances.” [the] Protect him from himself is the best thing you can.
McVay stated, “I know him,” noting that they talk every day. “If there’s any hint that he can, this guy’s going want to play. Now [there is a] There is a possibility that we will say, “Based on what’s being gathered, the doctors, and those types of items, it’s smart to not play with you.” Although he may be upset, I think he realizes that I am his best and that we both have our best interests. This is certainly possible if that’s true.
“But he will want to play. He will want to compete with his teammates, and do the things that have made Matthew Stafford great.
