Bath have loaned Ospreys player Ma’afu Fia for the remainder of the current season.

The Tonga international of 32 years, who won in 2009 the Junior World Cup with New Zealand, is now in cover for Johannes Jonker.

Since joining Ospreys from Super Rugby’s Highlanders, he has played over 100 games.

Neal Hatley, Bath head coach said, “We are grateful Ospreys for permitting Ma’afu join us as injury coverage until the end of this season.”

“He is a scrummager with international expertise and will add value for our tighthead options.”

Fia has only played twice this season as Ospreys’ replacement, as well as playing against England last October.
