Marshawn Lynch, a former NFL running back, becomes a minority investor in NHL’s Seattle Kraken

The terms of the investment, which was announced Monday, were not disclosed. Forbes recently valued Kraken at $875 million.

Lynch said that it was something he never imagined. Lynch played in seven of his 13 NFL season in Seattle. Tod Leiweke, Kraken's CEO, said to CNBC that Macklemore and Lynch approached him about investing last summer. The NHL approved the deal earlier this year.

Lynch will take part in the NHL's “Hockey is for Everyone” campaign. Leiweke stated that Lynch expressed interest in shadowing him in order to learn more about the operations of a hockey CEO.

Leiweke explained that Leiweke is intrigued by the idea about what it's like being an owner as well as the business and financing.

Macklemore is a Grammy winner who will bring entertainment to the franchise.

Macklemore released a statement saying that Macklemore is a hockey fan. He said, “I'm a big Hockey fan and have seen the team come to life over the last four seasons.” “This was an easy decision.”

Seattle will conclude its first expansion season with no playoff berth. The Kraken's schedule ends on May 1.
