DALLAS — The Mavericks On Tuesday, the Argentine guard was signed Facundo Campazzo, a former colleague of Luka Doncic Who will be the next ballhandler to Dallas’s superstar?
The Mavericks will open their regular season at the Phoenix Suns Wednesday
Campazzo, 31 years old, became a free agent after he spent his first two NBA season in Denver. After a career in the EuroLeague or Argentina, he was a successful professional athlete.
Campazzo played alongside Doncic in Real Madrid and helped Spain win the championships of 2015 and 2018. Doncic was the EuroLeague Final Four MVP for the second title.
Campazzo, 5’11”, averaged 5.6 and 3.5 points in his two seasons as a Nugget. He played 23 of 130 games.
Campazzo began his professional career in Argentina at the age of 17. He was a two time Argentine League Finals MVP and helped his team win four championships over five seasons.
Campazzo is being added to the Mavericks’ rotation after the departure of point guard. Jalen Brunson.
Brunson was a backup for Doncic in his early career, but he performed admirably as a starter last season alongside the Slovenian star. Brunson signed to the New York Knicks Free agency
Campazzo is Argentina’s captain, and he won the FIBA AmeriCup silver medal. He scored 12.3 points per tournament.
