Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies has been elevated to questionable for Saturday’s game against New Orleans Pelicans

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Ja MorantCould return to Memphis GrizzliesSaturday Night Against the New Orleans PelicansAfter missing less than two weeks due to a sore right leg, I was able to return to work.

On Friday afternoon’s injury report, Morant’s status was changed to questionable. The team will announce the timeline for the All-Star guard’s return Saturday if he is fit to play.

Morant, who was averaging 27.6 points per game, suffered a right knee injury in a loss to Atlanta on March 18. Since then, Morant has been listed “out” and Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins announced shortly afterwards that Morant would undergo a reevaluation in two weeks.

Jenkins said that Morant had been improving over the years and that they were keeping an eye on his progress with the medical staff. On Thursday, the Memphis coach stated that Morant had been practicing 5-on-5 and suggested that the guard might return this weekend.

The Grizzlies still have two home games in the regular-season — Saturday against Boston and Sunday against the Pelicans. Memphis is already the Western Conference’s second seed.

Memphis is 7-2 in nine games since Morant’s departure. The two losses were in overtime against Utah on Tuesday night, and in Denver on Thursday night. Backup guard Tyus JonesMostly filled in for Morant out.
