Toffoli, who scored nine goals and 26 points in 37 games for the Canadiens last place this season is second in scoring. Toffoli is a more efficient and consistent scorer than he has ever been, something Calgary was looking for. Toffoli had some of his most memorable seasons with the Los Angeles KingsFrom 2013 to 2020, Darryl Sutter was the Flames bench boss. The 29-year-old was a major offensive contributor in the Kings' Stanley Cup run of 2014 and has had multiple 20-plus-goal seasons.
Montreal's 42 goals and 44 points in last season's regular season saw Toffoli lead the charge to get into the playoffs. The Cup Final was an unexpected victory.
Toffoli is a valuable piece for the Flames to boost their depth scoring. Calgary is one of the NHL's most defensive teams, but it relies too heavily upon a few players — including Johnny Gaudreau, Elias LindholmAnd Andrew Mangiapane— to light the lamp. Toffoli is an added weapon for the Flames. Sutter's experience with Toffoli from multiple seasons in L.A. should help ease the transition.
