The Colorado Avalanche Re-signed star Nathan MacKinnon The team announced Tuesday that they have extended their contract for an additional eight years.
Multiple reports indicate that MacKinnon has a deal worth $100.8million and an average annual value at $12.6 million. Those figures surpass Connor McDavidThe $100 million he signed over eight years was the largest deal since 2005, when the salary cap era was established. This signing follows the Avalanche winning their third Stanley Cup, with MacKinnon scoring 24 points in 20 postseason matches.
MacKinnon was drafted with the first overall selection in 2013. He has been a finalist in the Hart Trophy as league MVP three of the last five seasons.
