The New Jersey Devils Placé veteran forward Ondrej Palat Saturday, injured reserve

Retroactive to Oct. 24, the move comes after Palat failed to attend the Devils’ previous games, Friday’s victory over the 1-0. Colorado Avalanche.

The Devils released a news release Saturday saying that Palat’s injury was “lower-body” and that he would meet with doctors Monday to determine the best course of action.

New Jersey recalled Andreas Johnsson (Utica Comets, American Hockey League) as a veteran forward. Johnsson, 27 years old, was caught up in numbers during training camp. New Jersey chose to send Johnsson with their Opening Night roster, which included younger prospects.

Johnsson cleared waivers and New Jersey was able to send Johnsson to the AHL while keeping him on the payroll. In his four games with Utica, Johnsson scored one goal and added six points. Johnsson’s six-year NHL career has seen him score 48 goals and score 113 points.
