New York City declares that the vaccine mandate will remain in effect ‘indefinitely’, but Yankees are confident

NEW YORK — The YankeesAlthough the city government has expressed confidence in the ability of unvaccinated athletes to take part on Opening Day’s field, they are singing a different tune.

Ashwin Vasan, New York City’s health commissioner, said that the private sector mandate will be in place “indefinitely” while there were no health benches for hospitalizations, deaths or infections. He also stated that the mandate would not be suspended.

He said, “I believe it’s indefinite” at this point. “You know what? People who have attempted to predict the future of this pandemic have always found egg on their faces.”

The mandate was initiated by former mayor Bill de Blasio. It requires private employers, such as the Yankees. MetsTo enforce mandatory vaccinations on employees.

Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, stated Wednesday that the city will eventually “repeal” certain vaccine mandates that would have prohibited members of New York’s baseball teams from playing at home.

Yankee Stadium and Citi Field will allow players who are not vaccinated from visiting teams to take part in games.

Unvaccinated players in Canada would be banned from the Yankees’ games against the Blue Jays and Mets. Unvaccinated Mets members would only be able to miss 81 games.
