Sebastian Aho of the New York Islanders and Sebastian Aho of the Carolina Hurricanes score almost simultaneously

NEW YORK — Wow! It’s a Double Aho!

Named: Both NHL players Sebastian AhoOne defenseman for the New York IslandersThe other is a forward for Carolina Hurricanes— Scored goals Thursday night for their team.

And all at the same time.

Sportsnet Stats reported that Aho of the Islanders scored his first goal for the season at 7 :14 p.m. ET in New York against Columbus

Just 34 seconds later, more than 500 miles away, Aho scored his 31st goal against Montreal by the Hurricanes. Both teams were 1-0 ahead at the start of the second period.

The two are not the only ones to have teamed up on this statistical oddity. New York’s Aho hacked Carolina’s Aho in 2018, prompting Brendan Burke, MSG Networks Islanders’ play-by-play broadcaster, to exclaim “A little Sebastian Aho on-Sebastian Aho crime!”

They are not related by any means. Sebastian Johannes Aho, the Islanders’ Aho is 26, and is from Sweden. In limited NHL action, he has achieved three NHL career goals.

Sebastian Antero Aho is the Hurricanes’ Aho. He is 24 years old and hails from Finland. He is a two-time NHL All-Star with 176 career goals.
