Coaches Detroit LionsAnd New York JetsThe NFL selected them Tuesday to be the coaches for the 73rd Reese’s Senior Bowl, Mobile, Alabama.
The college all-star games’ history will mark the debut of the advisory role for head coaches. The Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell will be promoting assistants to leadership positions for the week. Robert Saleh, the Jets’ head coach, will also be promoting them. This is a change to give assistants opportunities to develop and to showcase these coaches to other NFL clubs.
Also this year, four coaches from Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) will be a part of the coaching staffs to connect HBCU coaches with NFL teams with the hope it leads to future opportunities.
“Dan Campbell, Robert Saleh and their staffs will bring a lot of intensity to our game week. Our players will be able to get better during their time at Mobile. “Our leadership is committed using our unique platform to inspire change and we’re excited about the opportunities that this new staffing model will provide,” Jim Nagy, Senior Bowl executive director, stated in a statement.

Seattle Seahawkssent to the Jets Jamal Adams trade.
A record number of Senior Bowl players were selected in last year’s NFL draft. Draft prospects must have finished their college eligibility to play in the game.
This will mark the first time that a Jets team has coached at Senior Bowl since 1979, when Walt Michaels was head coach. New York also selected half of the “New York Sack Exchange,” which consisted of defensive linemen Marty Lyons & Mark Gastineau. Both were present in the game that same year. Mobile was home to the Lions’ last coaching experience in Mobile, two years ago when Matt Patricia was their head coach.
Both Campbell and Saleh had their first seasons in the NFL as head coaches in 2021.
The game will take places on Saturday, February 5, at Hancock Whitney Stadium on South Alabama’s campus.
