NFL will return to London in October for an international combine

NEW YORK — For the second year in a row, the NFL will hold an international combine in London.

The combine will see 44 athletes compete in front of NFL evaluators at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Oct. 3-4.

Instead of having team scouts, NFL evaluates the players before deciding on a few players who will train in the United States. After that, final choices are made to assign players to the NFL teams for the 2023 season. Then, they must win a spot on a team roster.

After the 2018 Australian International Combine, it will be the fourth after the 2019 German-German combination and London’s last year.

Roman Oben (NFL vice president of football developmental), stated that hosting the International Combine in London for the 2nd year gives our great game tremendous exposure. “The combine gives us the opportunity to evaluate global talent, shine a light on our sport, and give participants an opportunity to compete at top level.”

For the NFL’s International Player Pathway program, athletes from as many as thirteen countries will be considered. In 2017, the program was created to offer elite international athletes the chance to compete at an NFL level, to improve their skills and to eventually earn a spot in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program.
