Christmas Day falling on a Sunday will see the NFL capitalize.
For the first time, the league will be hosting three games on December 25: Two on Fox and Fox in the afternoon, followed by a primetime contest on NBC. Mike North, vice president of broadcasting for the NFL, announced the tripleheader in a podcast hosted and hosted by WGR radio host.sideline reporter Sal Capaccio.

The league will hold its weekly Thursday night game on December 22 for Week 16. Eleven games, including one on NFL Network, will be played on December 24. The Christmas tripleheader will be followed by a Monday night contest on December 26.

The NFL's three games will place it directly in competition with the NBA. In the 14 previous seasons, five games have been played by the NBA on Dec. 25.
North stated that the NFL would play at least two Christmas games Dec. 25, when the holiday falls upon a Monday.
The complete schedule for this year's Christmas games will go live in the week of May 9th. On Thursday, the league announced that the entire schedule will be made public on May 12. However, the league announced that the full schedule would be available on May 12th.
