Norm Maciver quits Seattle Kraken and returns to Chicago Blackhawks, as associate general manger

CHICAGO — Norm MaciverIt is back to the Chicago BlackhawksAfter he was appointed as associate general manager in the new GM Kyle Davidson.

Maciver was announced as returning to the team by the team Wednesday. Maciver, who is 57 years old, was previously the director of player staff for the team. Seattle Kraken.

“Bringing in Norm is one of many hirings we plan on making as we restructure hockey operations,” Davidson stated in a release. “I believe it is important that this department of hockey operations has a balance between strong hockey knowledge and new and innovative thinking. Norm has institutional knowledge. He is a great talent evaluator. We need him to push the boundaries with new methods and techniques.

Maciver will be in charge of Chicago’s scouting operations, reporting to Davidson. Maciver was an assistant GM and director of player personnel at the Blackhawks before he was hired to the expansion Kraken.

“Norm has been a great help to my career personally, but he isn’t afraid of sharing his opinion which is something that I admire most about him,” Davidson said. “He is a great starting point in building this.”

Davidson, 33 years old, was promoted to GM after he lost the interim tag. After starting as an intern for hockey operations in 2010, Davidson made his way to the top.

In a release, Maciver stated that Kyle and he have a great friendship and that he believes in the team’s vision. “I’m grateful to the Blackhawks, and I’m excited to get back to work at a place that has been my home.”

Maciver played 12 years in NHL. He finished with 55 goals, 230 assists, in 501 regular season games. As an assistant coach, he was also a member of the Boston BruinsHe was with Chicago for two more seasons.
