On a short-term basis, the Newcastle Falcons have signed Ollie Lindsay Hague (Olympic rugby sevens)
Lindsay-Hague is versatile and can play full-back or a winger.
He has played 15-a-side rugby union for Harlequins and scored 10 try before moving on to sevens.
“Ollie has a tremendously sharp mind and is very skilled.” boss Dean Richards said.
He is versatile and I admire him for that. While he is known around the globe as an outstanding sevens player and has lots of experience with 15s, he was also a Harlequins veteran.
Falcons were successful in signing Marcus Watson, brother to Anthony of England and Bath.
Falcons believe that Lindsay-Hague will benefit from the synthetic surface at Kingston Park. Richards claims it will allow him to run rugby “until about Christmas.”
Lindsay-Hague stated, “I consider myself playing in the back three. That’s where Harlequins played rugby for me. I love playing in those positions.”
Although it will be some time before I can get my 15s game back after playing so many sevens games, I feel confident that I can make the transition and help to contribute to what the Falcons want to accomplish up there.”
