Parades celebrate Houston Astros’ title.

HOUSTON — The Houston celebration was attended by more than 1,000,000 people Houston AstrosA downtown parade celebrated the ‘World Series win Monday

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner had advised supporters attending the victory parade to “arrive early”, wear Astros’ colors and be loud to celebrate safely. The parade started at noon and went on for several hours. It was packed with people, as Astros players rode floats and buses waved to cheering fans.

The parade went without incident, with the exception of Ted Cruz being taken into custody by Houston police after he was accused of throwing a beer bottle at Senator Ted Cruz. Cruz was riding in the back truck that was part the parade. The beer can apparently hit Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, in the neck and chest area. However, he was not injured and did not require any medical attention.

Police arrested the man, but he was not immediately identified. Police said that he is likely to be charged with assault.

Video of the parade captured people cheering Cruz on the way, even just before Cruz was hit with the beer can.

According to Mary Benton, a Turner spokeswoman, the final count of those who attended the parade after the Astros won the 2017 World Series was not available immediately. However, it was expected that more people would attend the parade than the 1,000,000 individuals who attended it in 2017, Mary Benton said.

The Astros won the second World Series title in six years Saturday. Yordan Alvarez Astros beat the Astros with a stunning three-run homer. Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 in Game 6.
